Kaitlyn Dever
Kaitlyn Rochelle Dever was born on December 21, 1996. Her roles in the FX crime drama series Justified (2011-2015), Last Man Standing (2011-2021), the ABC/Fox sitcom Last Man Standing (2011), the Netflix drama miniseries Unbelievable (2018) and Dopesick (2021) were some of her most notable. She was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Unbelievable and Dopesick, as well as a Primetime Emmy Award nomination.
Dever played supporting roles in films such as Bad Teacher (2011) and The Spectacular Now (2013). She was leading in Booksmart and Them That Follow, both in 2019.
Early life
Dever was the daughter of Tim and Kathy Dever. Mady Dever and Jane Dever are her younger sisters. She was five years old when she discovered an interest in performing arts. Her parents sent her to an acting school. Before she became an actor, she was involved in ballet, gymnastics, and ice skating. After her family moved to Dallas, where her father gave her the role of Barney the Purple Dinosaur’s voice, she enrolled at Dallas Young Actors Studio for a month-long acting course. After gaining experience at the studio, she was booked for various commercials before moving to Los Angeles.
Career
2013-2019: Independent film
She was a supporting role in the critically acclaimed 2013 films The Spectacular Now and Short Term 12. The latter received widespread praise from critics for her role.
Filmography
Dever was seen in Lynn Shelton’s 2014 dark comedy Laggies alongside Chloe Grace Moretz, Keira Knightley, and others. She also starred in Men, Women & Children, directed by Jason Reitman, that same year. Shelton reunited with Dever in 2017 for Outside In, a drama film. She was a supporting cast member. Dever also appeared in supporting roles in We Don’t Belong Here, All Summers End, and Detroit.
