Kirsty Gallacher
Kirsty Jane Gallagher, born 20 January 1976, is a Scottish television presenter. After starting her career with Sky Sports News, she hosted Kirsty’s Home Videos and RI:SE before returning to Sky Sports News in 2011-2018. Gallacher co-presents The Great British Breakfast on GB News since June 2021.
Early life
Kirsty Gallacher is the daughter of Bernard Gallacher (a professional golfer who was also a Ryder Cup captain) and Lesley Gallacher. Kirsty Gallacher was a Scottish native. At 18 months, her father was promoted to professional at Wentworth Golf Club. They moved to Virginia Water, England. Gallacher, her younger brother and sibling were raised on the Wentworth Estate where Bruce Forsyth was close to them. She attended St George’s School, Ascot, Berkshire, and Coworth Flexlands.
Career
At a Ryder Cup dinner Mark Sharman approached her.[6] She began as a production assistant in 1996 before she was promoted to the role of editorial assistant at Sky Sports.
In 1998, she was given her presenting slot on Sky Sports News. Since then, she has been involved with numerous other sports shows, including 90 Minutes, Soccer Extra and Kirsty and Phil (on BBC Radio 5 Live), and Soccer AM.
Gallacher hosted Kirsty’s home videos on Sky One from 2000 to 2004. This satellite version of ITV’s You’ve Been Framed! In which viewers can send home videos to be shown. She presented the morning show RI.SE in 2002 and the Simply the Best show in 2004. Gallacher hosted the All Star Cup on Sky1 and ITV in 2005. She has appeared on They Think It’s All Over, and A Question of Sport. Gallacher hosted Ant vs Dec – a popular segment on Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway.
Gallacher won The Games’ third series in 2005 on Channel 4. The following years she presented alongside Jamie Theakston. She released a DVD titled Body Sculpt with Kirsty Galacher in December 2005. It featured a variety workouts. She co-hosted the BBC reality TV series Only Fools on Horses in July 2006.
Gallacher and Ian Wright presented the 2008 version of Gladiators to Sky One in 2008. [10] She didn’t return for the second series.
Gallacher was interviewed on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire!, 30 August 2008. With Duncan Bannatyne.
She also appeared on GMTV with Lorraine for two weeks in August 2010, and Lorraine on ITV Breakfast.
Gallacher presented Sky Sports News in May 2011 and returned to Sky Sports in May 2011.
Gallacher was confirmed to be participating in the 2015 Strictly Come Dancing series on 27 August 2015. Gallacher was announced to be paired up with Brendan Cole, a professional dancer, for the series on 5 September 2015. They were eliminated in week 6, and finished eleventh.
Gallacher announced that he was quitting Sky Sports in May 2018.
Gallacher joined GB News on 29 March 2021 to present a morning program. Gallacher quit GB News in December 2021, after she discovered that she had a benign tumor in her inner ear canal. This was causing Tinnitus. She said that her early starts at the news channel were aggravating her symptoms.
She hosted Smooth Radio’s first ever show on 3 April 2021 at 4:00 PM BST.
Nominations and awards
Gallacher won the 1998 Royal Television Society Television Sports Awards for Best Newcomer. She was nominated for Satellite/Digital TV Personality in the 2002 Television and Radio Industries Club Awards. Kirsty’s Home Videos won her in 2003’s Satellite/Digital Programme award.
Personal life
Gallacher is Stephen Gallacher’s cousin. She was named patron of Hibernian Women at the end February 2013.
Gallacher was married to Paul Sampson, a rugby player. They have two sons. They split in 2015.
Russell Brand is Laura Gallacher’s sister.
