Maria LaRosa
Maria LaRosa is an American meteorologist who worked for The Weather Channel in Atlanta and is now employed by NBC News.
From 2014 to 2015, she co-hosted America’s Morning Headquarters and Sam Champion & Mike Bettes. She hosted Weekend Recharge with Paul Goodloe from 2014 to 2015.
She has been a meteorologist at WNBC-TV New York since July 2019 and is a substitute weather anchor for NBC’s Toda.
Career and early life
LaRosa was born and raised in New York. She joined KYW-TV, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in June 2004. Later, WXIX TV, a FOX station in Cincinnati, hired her. She was KYW-TV’s noon and weekday morning meteorologist in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She was the anchor and meteorologist for WTVM TV, an ABC station in Columbus, Georgia. She joined The Weather Channel in 2010 and became a meteorologist on-camera for Weekend Now and PM Edition with Todd Santos. She left in March 2012 to host the 5:30 AM to 6 AM edition of First Outlook and Your Weather Today between 9:00 AM and 10:00 AM (EST).
From 5:30 AM-7 AM, she hosted Wake Up With Al (2012-2014), Morning Rush (2007-2010), 7 AM-10 AM with Stephanie Abrams and Mike Bettes; America’s Morning Headquarters (2014-15); and America’s Morning Headquarters (2010). September 23rd, 2018, was her last day on The Weather Channel.
Education
LaRosa graduated from Penn State University with a Bachelor of Science in meteorology in 1998. Before graduating, she was also a teaching assistant in the University’s introductory meteorology course.
She is a member of the American Meteorological Society and the National Weather Association. As a certified broadcasting meteorologist, she has been awarded a seal of approval.
Personal life
Mariusz Kolakowski was her husband. They have three children: Justin, Tyler, and Michael, born in 2008 and 2005.
