Alexandra Muriel Wilson
American actress Alexandra Muriel Wilson. Her most well-known role is that of Josie Watts, the original character on the soap opera Another World (1988-1991). She was also an actor in the television series Homefront (1991-1992), and the motion picture Small Soldiers (1998)
Early life
Alexandra Wilson was involved in the social aspects at school. She performed and cheerleading at Chantilly high school in Fairfax County, Virginia. Wilson continued her studies at Broward Community College, Miami. However, she left after one year to avoid the drugs scene.
Wilson’s grandmother, Elaine Wilson, was one of the original Rockettes. Wilson’s mother, Elaine Wilson, was an award-winning drama teacher at Chantilly high school. Wilson began acting as a hobby when she was five years old. Wilson recalled her mother’s influence, saying that she put her in some of her productions and taught her in high school. Although I wasn’t sure I could do it I knew that I wanted to be an actor.
Wilson graduated from high school and taught drama classes to her mother’s children. Later, Elaine Wilson would become the President of The Alliance Theatre, Centreville, Virginia.
Career
Wilson, encouraged by her parents, moved to New York City in 1980 to pursue a career as a performer. In her early years, she lived with her grandmother, a Rockette, and paid for acting, singing, and dancing classes by waiting for clients like Mick Jagger, Paul Newman, and Matthew Broderick. Wilson realized that she preferred films and television to theater while auditioning for musicals. She struggled with dancing but could sing and act.
Wilson’s first television roles were in minor roles on the primetime series The New Mike Hammer (1984), and Spenser: for Hire (1986). In 1988, Wilson’s film credits included Diner and Silent Madness, The Secret of My Success and The Distance Between. She also appeared in commercials for Tide, Coke and Claritin from the age of 19.
People’s Choice Award: Favorite New TV Dramatic Series. Homefront was cancelled after a short run. Wilson would then be given main billing on two other short-lived dramas: The Round Table (1992), which was produced by Aaron Spelling, and University Hospital (1995), as well as the medical science fiction series Mercy Point (1998-1999).
Wilson briefly returned to high school after Homefront in the early 1990s as the love interest for Billy Cranston (David Yost), in Mighty Morphin power Rangers, and the girlfriend Brandon Walsh (Jason Priestley), in Beverly Hills, 90210. Former Loving/Another World star Luke Perry reunited Wilson with him. [1][8] Wilson appeared on several television shows throughout the 1990s. Personal life
She is a dog owner and once adopted a Spuds McKenzie-like Spuds MacKenzie from the ASPCA. She loves history and World War II is her favorite topic.
Allison Hossack, another world star, was Wilson’s roommate during the 1990s in New York City. She later lived in a two-bedroom apartment in Hollywood Hills with Sharon Lawrence. Wilson has also been friends with Jessica Steen, Homefront’s co-star, and has kept in touch with Matt Crane from Another World after she left the show.
